Your Wardrobe From Winter To Spring

Key trends which will help take your winter wardrobe into spring with minimal hassle and high street affordability.

We are finally moving into spring and, although there may still be a crisp freshness in the air, our wardrobes need to become a bit more suited to longer, lighter days. It has only just turned February, but it’s never too early to be on trend, and there are some key pieces that will help you move smoothly through this seasonal transition.

Many winter trends are sticking around for a few more months, and it is a lot more affordable to invest in these key items. Style is never about spending heaps of money on specific labels, but instead about knowing the trends that tick all the right boxes.

Velvet: Velvet has been back in our wardrobes for a while now, but it seems to be making a statement again. With an array of pieces appearing in this material, it’s something to look out for in Spring 2014. An easy way to adapt the look is by avoiding muted tones and alternatively opting for a brighter colour like royal blue. If the eye-catching texture of velvet isn’t quite your style, you can incorporate the trend in the form of a hair accessory.

Checks: Checked shirts have always been a staple garment for the modern laidback punk style, but checks are now featuring everywhere. They are given a preppy edge on structured tees and trousers, and are perfectly teamed with either a denim jacket during the day or a leather one for the evening.

Pastel hues: Pastel colours have made a big impact on jumpers this past season, with mint greens, baby blues and candyfloss pink being a big hit on the catwalks and the high street. Although it is unusual for such pale tones to feature in our winter wardrobe, they are always a big hit in the spring, which makes them the perfect investment for the new season. With the addition of delicate embroidery and details, i hope that they are here to stay.
