Review - Scene Asia restaurant

Arriving at Scene Asia on Old Christchurch Road, it soon becomes clear that this is a restaurant that knows what it’s doing; cheap food, all you can eat, friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere.

I attended the launch party of the new Asian buffet restaurant in town, serving Indian, Thai and Chinese cuisine, and was blown away by the standards of food and friendly staff.

Chicken tikka makhani, Thai green curry, noodles, naan bread, Dahl curry, and Tom Jung soup are just a few of the dishes and sides that are served, there’s most definitely something for everyone. Special dishes are made each day fresh from the kitchen in lightning speed and to amazing standards.

As well as all of this, it is very well priced too; ÂŁ10.95 for all you can eat dinner and even cheaper for lunch.

The staff too are friendly, drinks are well priced and the decor is really in keeping with the feel of the restaurant - low lights, kitchen style food display area, buddhas and lanterns. It’s almost as if someone put Pret a Manger into Asia!

One of the best parts is their amazing selection of desserts: fruit, biscuits, jelly and cakes, all with a chocolate fountain to dip into.

The music includes a lot of strange choices, such as modern pop, dance and even electro-swing, and I would have rather heard some more classical Bhangra or Asian music. Thankfully this doesn’t detract from you having a wonderful time at the restaurant.

Overall verdict: 9/10 - Amazing food, atmosphere and staff but not 10/10 as the music wasn’t right; but overall a trendy restaurant, perfect for a low priced but good quality meal.
