Geeks, Cosplayers and artists from around the world flocked to the Excel Centre London this weekend for the annual October MCM Comic Con.
The event attracted more than 130,000 fans over the three days with an extensive range of stalls, panels, and special guests.
Staff at the NIS America stall, who sell Japanese games to western consumers, said “MCM is a festival of geekdom and not to be missed.”
Brighton resident and Cosplayer, Daniel, said “It allows people from different cultures… to come together and share interests and make friends that, otherwise, they would not have made.”
This year the convention boasted a bumper line-up, including all four voice actresses of team RWBY from Rooster Teeth’s’ popular show by the same name; Sylvester McCoy of Doctor Who; and Shinji Hashimoto of Square Enix.
It was also a big year of change for the convention, with a clear expansion of the gaming sections, recognition of the booming industry, including the regular ESL stage and games being shown for the very first time.
The Excel Centre was used once more as the usually crowded aisles remained relatively walkable throughout the day, this is despite large space taken up for new stages and a new layout being used.
Overall, organisers seemed pleased with a relatively successful convention, the social media groups giving generally positive feedback.
MCM London returns in May 2017, and with Showmasters running Bournemouth Comic Con in August 2017, it will be looking to once more attract the geeks of Bournemouth.
